When your recently published book lives near Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen’s Influence and Style by Lauren Conrad, it means you’re kind of a big deal on my bookshelf. That’s why I was beyond thrilled to meet Emily Schuman, author of the lovely lifestyle blog Cupcakes and Cashmere. She visited the newest South Moon Under store at Mosaic District in Fairfax, Virginia last night to celebrate her book Cupcakes and Cashmere: A Guide for Defining Your Style, Reinventing Your Space, and Entertaining with Ease.
Schuman’s advice speaks to many, as evident from the event’s large and very excited crowd. I’m certainly not the only fan of her unique entertaining tips, delicious recipes
that my friend actually makes for me, and classically chic wardrobe picks.
The venue was packed with fashion, champagne, and fun. Popular brands including Free People, Dolce Vita, Stila, and butter LONDON are housed there, not to mention a fantastic selection of gifts and accessories. Georgetown Cupcake catered to the masses, and I loved how Schuman’s signature balloons brightened the venue with a personal touch.
The guest of honor signed copies from 6-8 PM, continuously maintaining a smile and gracious attitude throughout the entire event.
After a quick chat, she was glad to take a group photo with us. As big as her blog may be, it was really refreshing to experience Schuman’s down to earth attitude.
If you haven’t read Cupcakes and Cashmere, go do it now! I’m a huge fan of these treats, which would be perfect to make for a holiday party.
Now I’m just waiting on the Olsens for a signed copy of their book…
