There’s not an event in which celebrities dress up in the best of the best fashion that I don’t enjoy stalking. The annual Met Gala is certainly no exception, and with last night’s theme being Chaos to Couture, it wasn’t surprising to see more than a few eccentric looks.
Nicole Richie looked borderline unrecognizable yet somehow stunning with short silver hair in a Topshop embroidered gown. The wine lip left a perfect touch to the look, and I absolutely love the intricate ear cuff designed by Ryan Storer.
One of the first guests that I spotted via Instagram, Sarah Jessica Parker looked like couture punk perfection. I can’t help but adore her Phillip Treacy headpiece – because who else can pull that off – and her custom-made Giles Deacon dress was lovely, too.
Though not quite embracing the punk trend, Gwyneth still looked beyond gorge in hot pink Valentino. Modest and classic, I can’t help but think this gown would’ve made a more appropriate appearance elsewhere. A red carpet stunner irregardless, I’m a fan of her high-pony, nude lip, and the chic neckline cutout on the dress.
Back on the punk train and reminiscent of Billy Idol, Miley Cyrus surprised me with how chic she looked in Marc Jacobs. And since I’m a sucker for anything Dakota Fanning, I naturally liked her Rodarte gown, with what was a cooler back than front.
The word itself – punk that is – reminds me of black, zippers, and rough edges. There’s obviously room for interpretation on this one, but if you take the black and white and run, I’m liking
a blonde! Anne Hathaway, Rooney Mara, and Allison Williams.
What looks did you love, or left you wanting more?
