Seeking Selena’s Straight Mane

Though I’m still reeling from Miley’s performance – if that’s even the right word for it – I have to talk about how gorge Selena Gomez looked at Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards. A past Disney star herself, Selena was stunning and classy in a navy Atelier Versace gown.

From its intricate corset design to the daring leg cutout, this gown simultaneously appeared edgy yet not too revealing. And while I’d love to don a dress from this collection too, what I’m most envious of is Selena’s perfectly straight mane. Celebrity hairstylist Lona Vigi brought the look to fruition with products from John Frieda Frizz-Ease line.

To create Selena’s sleek and shiny straightness, Lona combined a bit of John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum Original Formula with the line’s Straight Fixation Smoothing Crème to her client’s wet hair. This fuse of these two products prevented the Brooklyn heat from frizzing out Selena’s strands.
Lona gave Selena’s hair a lush, straight blowout with the Harry Josh Pro Tools Pro Dryer 2000. If you want to try this look, Lona recommends flipping your hair over and concentrating on drying at the root to keep the look from falling. After sectioning off your hair, you can then blow each section dry with a round brush to create volume. Once Selena’s hair was entirely dry, John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon Flawless Finishing Crème was applied to create a shiny finish.
To keep strays at bay, Lona recommends the John Frieda Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hairspray. She sprayed a small amount on a clean mascara wand and glided it over the front sections framing Selena’s face, then combed the hair outwards along her part. And just like that, voilà – the look is complete.
While Selena’s gown is likely in a different price range, Lona’s choice of hair products are incredibly budget-friendly. And even luckier for us, these products from the John Frieda Frizz-Ease line are available at drugstores nationwide.
